As I was preparing for Youth Worship Team for January 18, 2025, I looked up the Torah portion. The Parashah reading for this particular weekend is titled Shemot from Exodus 1-6. Shemot is a Hebrew word for “names”. This parashah begins with, “These are the names of the children of Israel who came into Egypt, each man with his own family.” These speak of the lineage and story of Moses. In Exodus 3 we read where God reveals His Name and the meaning of His Name through the personal relationships over generations.
God answered Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” Then He said, “You are to say to Bnei-Yisrael, ‘I AM’ has sent me to you.” God also said to Moses: “You are to say to Bnei-Yisrael, Adonai, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My Name forever, and the Name by which I should be remembered from generation to generation.
Exodus 3:14-15, (TLV)
God called and set Moses apart from birth. Through the faith and obedience of his parents God preserved his life. We invest a large portion of Silverman Ministries efforts in raising up the future generations of worship leaders. I am grateful for parents who recognize their children have a special calling and musical gift from God. In faith and obedience they are raising them up, preserving their lives spiritually to be used by God as vessels of honor. I am grateful these families choose to align themselves with a Messianic Jewish worship ministry and to stand with the Jewish people. I also am grateful for the children and young people who invest time and discipline into learning an instrument or singing, and then also are willing to be a part of a worship team at services. But most importantly these parents and children are choosing to be disciplined by the Word of God and worship in the way they live their lives. (The Hebrew word for this is avodah – “worship” and “service.”) I believe God desires and is raising up parents and families and young people to choose holiness and purity, prepared to be used by God for every good work, as vessels of honor. The Scriptures below are how I am praying into the Youth Worship program of Silveman Ministries – for the upcoming team in January and for camp in summer 2025.
Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord keep away from unrighteousness.” Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay—some for honor and some for common use. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor—sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.
2 Timothy 2:19-21, (TLV)
By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw he was an extraordinary child and they were not afraid of the king’s decree. By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. Instead he chose to suffer mistreatment along with the people of God, rather than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin. He considered the disgrace of Messiah as greater riches than the treasures of Egypt—because he was looking ahead to the reward. By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger—for he persevered as if seeing the One who is invisible. By faith he kept the Passover and the smearing of the blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch them. By faith they passed through the Red Sea as if on dry ground. When the Egyptians tried it, they were swallowed up.
Hebrews 11:23-29, (TLV)
Did you read what I did? Because of the faith of the parents, one child (Moses) with the help of his siblings (Aaron and Miriam) led an entire nation out of bondage and also God annihilated the Egyptian army. Would you join me in praying for our youth and their parents? May they be sons and daughters who personally know God by Name and whose lifestyles reflect the Name they carry.
God bless you and your families,
