There are not many activities that we do here on earth that we will also do once we get to heaven. Will we need to pay bills in heaven? Will there be politics there? Will we watch the news? Landscape? Drive? Search Google? As far as I know, none of those things will be occurring in heaven… |
How about this one: singing in a choir? That is an activity that we do here on earth. Lots of people sang in choirs in Biblical times (Nehemiah 12, Psalm 66). Will we sing in a choir once we arrive to our heavenly home? In Revelation chapter 5 we see that the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders sing a new song together unto Yeshua, The Lamb. Here are the song lyrics:
“You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals. For You were slain, and by Your bloodYou redeemed for God those from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.”
Later in the same passage myriads of angels chanted with a loud voice,
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom and mightand honor and glory and blessing!”
My understanding is that in addition to the twenty-four elders and the myriads of angels, that we too will sing praises as one unified group unto Yeshua… we will sing in the heavenly choir. While we’re still on earth, let us sing as a choir in the here and now. Let us praise and worship Yeshua together with others’ voices and sing together as one. There are two local choirs that I have the privilege to conduct. One is Voices of Hope at Desert Hope. We recently had our first rehearsal of this season. The choir is preparing God Is Our Refuge by Allen Pote. The words are based on Psalm 46: “God is our refuge and strength, A present help in time of trouble…we will not fear.” This majestic piece is rhythmically energetic while being in a minor key. The choir is also learning a setting of Romans 8 that I composed years ago: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called, according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). The Voices of Hope will present these pieces on October 27th. If you’re in the Tucson area and would like to learn more about how to get involved in Voices of Hope, visit www.deserthope.org/choir. The other choir is City Psalms Choir (www.citypsalms.com/choir) pictured above. This is a group of singers from over a dozen congregations across Tucson. We are preparing to give a community performance on December 7th. The harmonies in both groups are beautiful and God’s Presence is very sweet. It is such a joy to conduct these two groups. If you are in the Tucson area, why don’t you come and join both of these choirs? You could consider it practice for that splendid day when you will worship Yeshua as part of the heavenly choir! As we head into this season of High Holy Days let us lift our voices in joyful song unto Yeshua, The Mighty Loving King! Happy Rosh Hashannah to you and your loved ones. I look forward to ministering in California, then more in Arizona as a part of the holiday season! Thank you so much for partnering with us through the years! You have been like family to us – standing together as we minister, and making it possible for us to reach people for Yeshua through worship and praise music. I really appreciate you. |
